Punching with an angry gaze to increase strength. Qi Gong 8 Brocades Part 7

in #dlive6 years ago (edited)

This seventh brocade practice is particularly good for the liver. The liver can express anger, and anger can be both healthy and unhealthy. This practice works to create a sense of appropriate balance in the liver so that anger when it does manifest, it expresses itself in a healthy appropriate way.

This 800-year old exercise, which the ancients likened to beautiful brocade, consists of eight sections, is very popular among the Chinese people. Each section can be practiced on its own and each targets a specific organ or health need. The whole set of movements are fine and delicate with moderate intensity. It is like yoga, but is performed in a standing position and does not require much space or a yoga mat. The 8 brocades are also known as the silk brocades because of the very slow and flowing movements. I have been practicing the 8 brocades regularly for several years, and have found it to be one of my great pillars that keep me physically, mentally and emotionally in balance.

VIDEO TRANSCRIPTION

The seventh brocade is sometimes called punching with an angry gaze to increase strength.
Feet step apart and you exhale your right palm in a fist forward..
Inhale, draw that hand back, elbow bend.
Change out the arms, exhaling the left hand forward
Inhale the palm turns back the fist turns up
As you exhale the palm fist turns forwards and down
I'm bending my knees up and down a little bit

This practice is particularly good for the liver. The liver can express anger, and anger can be both healthy and unhealthy. This practice works to create a sense of appropriate balance in the liver so that anger when it does manifest, expresses itself in a healthy appropriate way.

This is also really good for reducing stress, and strengthening concentration. Its good for prevention of arthritis through the hands, the wrist and the elbows.

Take another in breath and then start to release, releasing with that clearing, settling. Letting go of inappropriate anger, Making room for some kindness.

Wow, these are some really amazing videos you have here. I don't have a huge following here on steemit, but I do know some friends on FB would love this. Hope you don't mind if I share it out. Hopefully we can convert a few minds ;)

I do have one question on this video. So I noticed that when you bring your fists back you do a slight adjustment around your shoulders? Maybe I'm not seeing it right from the angle of the video...but are you doing some form of resetting for the upper body posture before continuing? And the fist goes out with a slight restraint and then you push out all the pent up energy?

Apologies for bothering you with such detailed questions.

Thank you in advance @eco-alex

well i think you spotted it well.. when i bring my firsts back there is a little bit of a circular movement .. it just feels right to me.. when i put my fist out, Yes i do push a bit at the end.. get that anger out!

please do share. thanks!

Nice, thank you. And yes I did! :)

BTW, I am incorporate one Qigong movement (the arm swinging one) with children before starting some yoga asanas. Any age restrictions on this particular one? But I'm not sure how controlled they are going to be with this - they're probably going to be punching the air in full force.

oh any age is fine.. its such a simple movement that kids do anyways!

SO nicely your "Feet step".... :)
