RE: DLive: Should the US Implement GDPR Privacy Standards?
Business is so good at regulating itself, that we really don't need such silly things as child labor laws and such other whimsical principles. THOSE KIDS HAVE A RIGHT TO WORK IN THOSE LOOMS. Why on EARTH should we compensate you if our machinery tears your arm out? You've got one more by God! Now get back to work!
Most of the real reasons business doesn't do underhanded and unethical things are because there had to be a law passed to stop them from already doing them. If it makes them an extra fraction of a cent, who cares about such trivial things as privacy of your personal data. Same thing here. We'll have to write actual laws to force the captains of industry to have human ethics. If you were standing in the road and a $20 bill was a few feet beyond you, they would run you down, pull up deftly next to the bill, and then pick it up in a dainty reach-and-pinch. Then blast off into the sunset leaving black coal driven smoke and burning rubber tire tracks.
haha, brilliantly said
