Twitch's Policy Update Could Be HUGE For Dlive

in #dlive6 years ago

As of March 5th Twitch, the biggest streaming platform on the internet, has drastically updated their anti-harassement and hateful conduct policies. If content creators on the platform fail to comform with the new policies they face permanent suspension from the platform.

This new strict policy will ruin the careers of the biggest streamers on the platform. Could this be the opportuity Dlive has been waiting for?

Why is Twitch updating their policy?

To understand why Twitch is enforcing this new policy it's necessary to know a little bit about Twitch's history and how it went from a small streaming site to one of the most visited sites on the internet in just 6 years.

In 2007 Justin Kan founded Justin.tv a place where everyone could broadcast video online. Kan soon realized that gaming was by far the most popular section on Justin.tv, therefore gaming got it's own website and so Twitch.tv was created in 2011. The idea behind Twitch.tv was a fun gaming environment for gamers by gamers.
Very soon Twtich introduced partner programs and for the first time it was possible for streamers to make a living on Twitch. This led to a huge popularity increase and in 2014 Amazon bought Twitch for 970 million USD.

As Twitch gained more in popularity a lot of different content started to appear on Twitch. Especially controversial content and slightly mature conent gained a lot of traction. Since the policies and surrounding this kind of content were very unclear and enforcement was very inconsistent, Twitch received a lot of backlash by the community and the media. Advertisers were becoming very unhappy with the negative coverage and sexual streams. Therefore as of March 5th Twitch enforced a zero-tolerance policy of mature content, harassement and hateful conduct (even off Twitch).

What does this mean for streamers?

From now on streamers will have to be very careful saying things that could potentially lead to denigration, discrimination, objectification or harassement. To make things worse they will also be banning streamers that fail to put the policy into practice in real life. Off-Twitch actions still represent the streamer according to Twitch so failing to comply with the terms will lead to indefinite suspension.

Is DLive the solution?

The new policy has resulted in a lot of turmoil in the Twitch community. Streamers fear that their livelihoods are in the hands of people who can't take a joke and strive for an advertiser-friendly environment. Which directly goes against the gaming culture and internet culture in general.

This is where DLive comes in. DLive is decentralized and doesn't rely on advertisement revenue to pay the content creators for their work. Therefore there's no need to create an adevertiser-friendly environment and force broadcasters into following strict rules.

Aside from those reasons there are a lot of monetary reasons why DLive is superior to Twitch. If you're interested I encourage you to read the entire DLive post introduction post.

If Twitch will start to enforce these new terms as harsh as they disclosed, it's more than certain that a lot of big streamers will be banned and looking for a new platform to continue their careers.

The faggotry continues.

It will continue until they discover steemit and dlive, dtube etc. This is a reminder that crypto is here to stay. These other platforms are shit and unstable.

Agree, they sold themselves to the globalists.
They have been assimilated into the empire of nothing.
Creativity and truth are limited under censorship.
