A South Korean man has deserted to North Korea, say media reports, in an uncommon instance of somebody looking to live in the dictator state.

Choe In-guk is the child of two top-level representatives who absconded toward the North during the 1980s.

As per North Korean state media he will live in the North and work on reunification issues.

Surrenders along these lines are uncommon. It is increasingly normal for individuals from the North to attempt to run away toward the South.

The two nations are in fact still at war and South Koreans need authorization to visit the North.

South Korea's Unification Ministry affirmed that Mr Choe did not demand such authorization for his excursion.
