Japan rings in new era as Naruhito becomes emperor

Naruhito will formally take possession of the sacred imperial regalia at a solemn ceremony later Wednesday, May 1, but he became the 126th emperor at the stroke of midnight, ushering in the 'Reiwa' imperial era

It is quite surprising to know that Japan has this monarchy side for the country and it is even more surprising that their monarchy belongs to the most old monarchies in the world. Amazing right?
