The New York Mets are fighting for their season. The chances of the playoffs are very slim with hope diminishing each day.

This does not mean the future is not bright. The team has a dynamic duo in Pete Alonso and Jeff McNeil.

This is a reminder of days long ago when two young players, David Wright and Jose Reyes spurred on the imaginations of Met fans.

The two are close to topping the older tandem in most extra base hits by a duo on the Mets in one season.

With 2019 winding down, the future looks bright for the team in Flushing. It is time to start looking for green stems in an otherwise disappointing season.
