Storm surge is life-threatening. It killed thousands in Philippines back then.
I can´t imagine myself to be living in Florida where every year it´s being hit by storms and hurricanes... You would have to make barricades , nail your windows and that too many times during the hurricane season... My relatives lived there and they didn´t like it, it is also too humid in summer.
