An open letter regarding Android bloatware
More than 50 organizations and companies, including Amnesty International, Privacy International, Digital Rights Foundation, DuckDuckGo and Electronic Frontier Foundation, have sent an open letter to the leadership of Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai. It's about a pre-installed software or so call bloatware on Android devices.
In their view, such applications threaten users' privacy as they cannot be removed, and because of their special status in the operating system, they are not subject to any other licensing regime for data collection and for access to the camera, microphone, location and other user information without the latter could be influenced in any way.
Therefore, signatories request that Google allow users to completely remove such applications. You can read the letter here.
