Spider Named After Griffindor Looks Like Sorting Hat
Today I learned there is a spider that bares a striking resembles to the sorting hat from Harry Potter. Luckily the researchers were big enough fans of the Harry Potter series to know that the original owner of the sorting hat was Godric Griffindor, so they named it Eriovixia gryffindori in honor of the fictional character.
E. gryffindorican be found in the forests of southern India. According to researchers, the shape of the spider also resembles dried leaves of the local fig plants allowing it to hid from predators.
