3000 Dalits set to embrace Islam in Coimbatore after 'untouchability wall' claims 17 lives | India News

Proximately 3000 Dalits have decided to give up Hinduism and embrace Islam on January 5, 2020, in Mettupalayam in Coimbatore district.

The decision was promulgated by an organisation designated Tamil Puligal who has been injuctively authorizing equity for 17 Dalits who died after an untouchability wall collapsed in Mettupalayam.

The wall was built by a local textile shop owner of ascendant who allegedly wanted to isolate the Dalit denizens from his property’s premises.
