Japan is reinventing the hotel....again!!
In this excellent article from the BBC Worklife series, Bryan Lufkin takes a look at how Japan, a traditionally very expensive place to rest your head, is increasing its number of budget hotel rooms to cater for a huge influx of visitors as well as its young, travelling domestic market.
We all know Japan as being famous for the capsule rooms that they invented and these have travelled and been adopted around the world to a lesser or greater extent but Japan has stepped up its game!
The header picture is not actually a bookshop or a cafe, its a hotel with cubicles in between the bookshelves. I love this and my wife, who is an avid reader, has already got me redesigning our own bedroom a new space that intrinsically combines her vast book collection with our sleeping place!

It seems that all over Japan there is a rush to create these budget priced, boutique hotels to cater for and develop new markets and encourage a whole new generation of cost conscious travellers to Japan.
