RE: Modeling crystal behavior—toward answers in self-organization
Super interesting. We had to take a few material science courses when going through my engineering program (though, that's mostly for mechanical or electrical engineers, and I ended up pursuing civil). I always enjoyed learning about the different lattice / microscopic properties of metals and how they're cooled.
This ferroelectric stuff is like that, but on steroids.
I have a few textbooks on the subject and it is so intriguing to me all that goes into creating the various structures of the physical world. I especially enjoy confounding myself trying to understand some of the intricacies of the crystals and the cool stuff like graphene. I have a working knowledge of glass from glass blowing but that only goes so far.
