Minha terra natal chama-se Campos dos Goytacazes, assim invariavelmente tínhamos na escola, e sempre ouvíamos muitas historias sobre os temidos índios Goitacá!

No início da colonização do território brasileiro pelos portugueses, um dos mais difíceis foi colonizar a Capitania de São Tomé, além de particularidades da natureza local, era uma região que tinha uma das tribos mais agressivas que se tem notícia, os Goitacá!

Exímios caçadores e coletores, eram extremamente agressivos, viviam em guerras entre eles próprios, e com outras tribos. E além disso ficaram famosos por serem CANIBAIS!

Com dificuldades de colonizar os Goicatá, os portugueses da época utilizam uma das primeiras armas biológicas que se tem notícia, deixaram roupas cheias do vírus Orthopoxvirus variolae, dizimando-os por Varíola. Eduardo Bueno nos ensina sobre os índios Goitacá:
