Do you know the differences between cold and flu?

The flu season is knocking at the door. Everyday, I am seeing a lot of children and adults who are coming with cold, cough, fever, throat pain, headache, malaise etc. In the diagnosis part I am sometimes writing common cold, sometimes writing acute tonsillitis or similar type of provisional diagnosis. But what are the actual differences between common cold and flu? Do you know that both conditions are not the same? Do you know the differences between these too?
