Although several countries already allowed marijuana to be used as medicine and other recreational purposes, this plant and its use is very much illegal in the Philippines.

Marijuana had been planted sindicates in the provinces, most of the time in the mountainous regions of Northern Luzon particularly in the Cordillera Autonomous Region (CAR).
