Painting and Ballasting a Model Train Track

I absolutely love www.sprucecrafts.com and I love it even more now I've discovered this excellent article about my beloved model railways especially this article on trackwork. Model train track can be realistic right out of the box, but with some simple work, it can be even better. These techniques work on almost any track.

This is really awesome. I remember going to the hobby store as a little kid with my dad and being fascinated by all of the awesome model train stuff. There used to be a show on PBS that I would watch on the weekends where they would talk about all kinds of model train stuff. It was amazing the setups that some of the people had. This brings back good memories!
Yes, its not known as the coolest hobby in the world but some of their work is almost art in its photo realism. Some really skilled people building layouts. Im 52, maybe when I hit 60 I'll build a small layout form fun!
