The baseball world was interested as to what happened to Yoenis Cespedes ankle last season when he suffered an injury on his ranch that caused him to miss the entire season.

There were reports that he fell off a horse, which was contrary to his claim he stepped in a hole.  This off season, the player and team agreed to an amended contract which cut his base pay a great deal.

It turns out that Cespedes did step in a hole.  He reported the injury to the Mets who immediately checked the ranch out.  It is also claimed that MLB also surveyed the situation at a later date.

The cause of the injury was a boar that was trapped by Cespedes.  It broke free and Cespedes stepped in the hole to avoid it.  That resulted in a nasty break.

Cespedes has claimed himself healthy and in store for a big 2020.
