Did the Heat and Rockets trade their way into the title chase?
The Miami Heat and Houston Rockets have good teams. They want to be a lot more than that.
Both teams made moves to get into top contention for the final stretch of the season and into the playoffs. The question is whether the teams did enough to compete with the top teams in each conference.
In the West, the Clippers made a move in a three team deal acquiring a couple of veterans. This could help them down the final run of the season since they can rest some of their starters. Depth is valuable this time of year.

If Miami would have landed Gallinari in addition to Iguadala they would be right there with Milwaukee as favorites to make it to the Eastern Conference finals. I still like the Iggy trade, but more from a standpoint of getting off of the Waiters & JJ contracts, not because i think it makes them much better.
