Sir David Attenborough calls on public to count butterflies - BBC News
Besides the positive effects of being in contact with nature, in the UK we now have the chance of doing our own research.
All we need is to do is go out and count the butterflies that we are able to see. There is a form with 17 species that we need to tick if we see them. The count will take place over three weeks.

Great fun. I am jealous of my son that is still in college. They go out and do nature surveys for some of his classes.
It's been raining here today, @steven-patrick, I'm relieved though it's been light rain ... I've therefore only seen a couple of small white butterflies...
Interesting - in Germany we're counting birds twice a year for the Naturschutzbund (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naturschutzbund_Deutschland) similar to the birdwatch in the UK. But there's no prominent figure like David Attenborough to promote it.
We don't have watch TV so it's what we get to read around and hear on the radio @muscara... It's a good 'family' type activity to have over a few weeks I think :D
Thank you very much for the link as well.
