Petro is indeed an exceptional phenomenon: as a state-sponsored coin, it questions the main feature of any cryptocurrency, which is being decentralized. Let's see how it goes! But I'm not buying any Petro either :)
They did so well managing the Bolivar what could possibly go wrong with the Petro? I wonder if any of the investors in that realize the same fools who drilled the fiat into the ground are also in charge of the crypto which is a controlled "blockchain".

What I believe will happen, every country will make a sovereign coin on his own.
I hope it helps the country from poverty due to US sanctions..

At least the government is trying a plan B!
I'll watch this experiment if someone wants to buy that. But I will not recommend this anyone.
