My weekend project

Been working on this decoration for my living room over the weekend.
The next step is to sand down some of the edges and paint it white.
I'm also working on taking it to the next level by adding LED strips along each timezone and have it light up corresponding to the time of day in the given timezone.
So far i'm pretty much in over my head so if anyone has some tips or ideas for lighting hit me up!

All I have done is translate the projects measurement to the metric system (why don't you american just use the metric system like the rest of the world)
