DIY Playdoh recipe and instructions
What you'll need:
1 cup flour
1/4 cup salt
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 cup water
Food coloring or kool aid mix works too
In a large saucepan, mix the flour, salt and cream of tartar together. Do not turn on the burner yet!
Next, add in the water, vegetable oil and food coloring. The richness of the color depends on how much food color you put in, I use about 5 drops.
Burner should still be off. Trust me. 😊 Mix your liquid together to make sure you've got the color you want before you turn on the heat.
Ok. Now, turn your heat up to about 8. mix it all together and keep stirring.
Pretty soon, it'll start to get lumpy and stick together.
When it sticks itself into a ball on your whisk, it's done!
Now, put it on your cutting board or counter, and knead it all together.
Now you can store it any way you like, but I use Ziploc bags so I can easily see what color is in there. Store in the fridge for best results, but if it dries out at all, just get your hands a little wet and knead it again, it comes right back. Happy play doh creating everyone!
