Offgrid Woodworking in Hawaii - Finishing Our Avocado Wood Boxes

We are finishing our two Avocado Wood Boxes with Wipe-on-Poly.

We have developed a new technique to apply them.

We normally use brushes to put on the Poly but since it is fast drying there are streaks which we have to sand out.

Our new technique is to wet sand the pieces and the clean them with a damp paper towel. We make sure that the surface is clean but slightly damp and the brush on a thicker coat of Poly.

We immediately wipe is off with a damp paper towel and this gives us a much smoother finish.

Once the Poly dries we do it all over again.
