At 11:30pm last night Mauna Loa erupted.

The lava flows are currently confined to the summit area.

Based on past events, the early stages of a Mauna Loa eruption can be very dynamic and the location and advance of lava flows can change rapidly.

If the lava escapes the summit area then it could move downslope very quickly.
