DIY Offgrid Woodworking in Hawaii - Making Blanks from Avocado Wood

in #diy3 years ago

We spent some time this afternoon cutting out some blanks from the Avocado wood logs that we had.

Now that we got our Bandsaw working well. We replaced the blade and tuned it.

It cuts so well now and it is very easy to make the blanks.

We cut a few and will leave them to dry a little in the shade of our shed.

This works for the Avocado wood but not the Pine. When we tried this for the Pine the blanks cracked when we dried them for a couple weeks.

Making the blanks as cylindrical as possible sure makes the turning easier.
