Homemade bread

in #diy7 years ago

At the request of @coquinlimited (yes we talk a lot and don't know why she puts up with me. Maybe she's a masochist too) I bring to you another episode of cooking with the dog.

This time we will be making some bread the old fashioned way, meaning NO MACHINE to do all the work.

First thing as always make sure your paws are nice and clean. Go ahead I'll wait.

Ok ready now? Good first thing get a big bowl and not your food dish either.
Combind the following

2 1/2 cups white powder stuff called flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon salt
2 tablespoons shortening
2 packages of dry bacteria (yeast)

Add 2 1/4 cups very warm but not hot water.

Use the electric spinny thing humans call a mixer. Mix on low speed for a few barks then on medium speed for some barks and growls.

Stir in 3 1/2 more cups of that white stuff (flour) 1/2 cup at a time until the dough is easy to handle.

Put some of that white stuff on the table or surface and drop dough onto that white powder and push it around (they call it kneading). Push it around for 10 minutes.

Grease (not slobber) a big bowl and put the dough in it then turn it greased side up. Cover it (not with your favorite blanky). Let rise until it blows up twice it's original size.

Punch that sucker down. Bring it to it's knees.

Bite ummm I mean cut it in half and let it rest for 5 minutes or 50 woofs, 10 barks and 2 growls.

Flatten each half into 9 inch by 18 inch rectangle

Ummm...dogs don't know what 9"x18" is or what a rectangle is for that fact.

Fold each flattened piece in thirds then from the side roll towards you. Tuck in the bottom then press the ends down and tuck under. Place in greased (again not slobbered) bread pans.

Cover and let rise until doubled in size.

Bake at 425° on the lowest rack for 25 minutes.

Once they come out of the oven be sure to burn your paws as you pull the loaves out of the pans and place on the cooling rack.

Use a pastry brush to brush real butter on the top. Enjoy your new creation.

WOOF IT AND STEEM ON

Yup :D That's about right.... dry bacteria and white stuff and all the other strange things. I like to use more elastic bacteria too which you have to tickle and feed with some milk and sugar so it is hyper and ready for some action with the white stuff.
Awesome recipe :)
