Just a quicky. The chimney and remnants of the fireplace have now been tidied up with plaster. Slowly fitting the skirting board.

Na, The the 'box' was reinstated on the right-hand side and then the whole lot encased in plasterboard. If you look at the carpet you can see the original footprint of the fireplace. The optical illusion is that the whole lot has been shunted right. Once the new carpet is in nobody will be any the wiser other than "That's a big thing sticking out of the wall?"
