in #diy6 years ago

The market is full of products that promise to help us keep our homes crystal clear while saving us precious time. Yeah, buying already made products like beauty, cleaning or even food is convenient if you can’t organize your life, but the question remains ‘Do you know how healthy are these products after all?’ Sorry to break it to you but there is nothing healthy and safe on the shelves of your favorite supermarket. That is why we plan to take you on a trip back in time when things were much safer and also less expensive. Hope you’ll enjoy the ride.

What do you need to know about DIY cleaning products?

As surprisingly as it may seem, most of the times, the products that you make at home are way effective than those at the supermarket. The secret to a healthy life will always be found in nature. You can find in nature everything from food to medicinal plants for practically anything and also some hidden weapons to keep our homes clean and fresh. Let’s discover them together.

The most effective natural ingredients you will need in your home

  1. Baking Soda – effective cleaner and odor remover;
  2. Sodium carbonate – useful for toilet cleaning;
  3. White vinegar – removes oil stains and unpleasant odors;
  4. Hydrogen peroxide – effective sanitizer and stain remover;
  5. Salt – removes grease stains and limestone deposits;
  6. Lemon juice – removes garlic, onion and fish odors;
  7. Cooking oil – it can be used to clean wood surfaces;
  8. Essential oils – can be used as air fresheners, they have antifungal and antibacterial properties.
How to create some DIY cleaning products at home

All-purpose detergent – mix in a spray bottle ½ teaspoon sodium carbonate with one teaspoon liquid soap, 2 cups of warm purified water and a few drops of essential oil of your choice. You can use this mixture to clean your floors, bathroom, and kitchen.

Windows cleaner – mix in a spray bottle 250 ml of water, the juice from one lemon, three tablespoons of apple vinegar and two tablespoons of baking soda.

Furniture cleaner – mix in a spray bottle three parts cooking oil with 1-part vinegar and a few drops of essential oil of your choice. We suggest you use a cotton cloth when using this recipe; it will leave all surfaces squeaky clean.

Dust cleaner – mix in a spray bottle water with a little bit of lemon juice or vinegar with a teaspoon of coconut oil.

Sink, bathtub and toilet cleaner – mix one tablespoon of gritty salt with four tablespoons of baking soda and rub the dirty spots. If you are afraid of scratching your surfaces, you can always replace the salt with a finer one.

Carpet cleaner – mix in a spray bottle water with white vinegar and spray the mixture all over the surface and insist rubbing the dirtier sports with a microfiber cloth.

Air freshener – mix in a spray bottle water with a few drops of essential pine oil and spray away into any room you like. If you love other scents, you are free to play with any essential oil of your choice.

Hopefully, you’ll find useful our ideas, and maybe you’ll try them out. If you have a friend that it is interested in DIY projects we’ll appreciate the share.
