Using Up Scrap Wood : Fun Bird Box

I thought I'd have a bit of fun with a few more bits of scrap/offcut pieces of wood. I made a drawing of the box and worked out a few measurements to fit the wood i had. Then i cut all the pieces i needed.
I got everything screwed up but didn't like the pieces along the roof so a cut another couple of smaller pieces that made the roof look better. I drilled the hole which is maybe too small . So probably have to make that bigger.
Then the fun part.. Painting.. So i thought I'd try my hand at camouflage paint. Seems to have turned out better than i thought it would
Neat project :) I am currently looking into making some bird toys. Do you use a special type of paint for the bird house? I would like to avoid using anything that could harm my little friend.
I usually only paint the outside and leave the inside natural wood as the chicks tend to pick at it
That makes sense. My food colouring experiments for popsicle sticks did not turned out so well. I need to find something else that colours wood nicely but is not harmful if chewed on. Cannot be that hard, I am just too lazy to properly look for it :P
