DIY Guitar clock easy how to

in #diy9 years ago (edited)

A little backstory for my project. I was looking around our house and noticed that I needed a clock. I searched and searched for different types of clocks but none of them jumped out at me. So I thought I would just make one. Well that was easier said than done and began another dilemma, what did I want to make it out of? It took me about 3 weeks to decide. We are big music fans and my son is a musician and artist. Light bulb went off, create a clock incorporating art and music. Guitars are not hard to find and I already had a collection of them so I was halfway there.
So after getting the guitar finished and using the clock works kit and a couple finishing touches with guitar pics, I have my much needed clock that goes perfectly with our music and art decor.
How I did it:
Took guitar apart, sanded it down and cleaned.
Applied in decoupage style patterned paper, that I liked, with mod podge, let dry.
Spray painted entire thing with burgundy gloss, let dry.
Painted a cd for clock face, let dry attach clock mechanics kit under cd and attach it to center of guitar.
Arrange numbers and picks and glue in place with mod podge.
I used Velcro to hold cd and clockworks in place and it works great.

Hope it inspires you to be creative.
Until next time, Have a great day :)IMG_1387.JPGIMG_0785.JPG
