Haunted Mansion is a perfectly acceptable family film.
This is probably gonna be mildly controversial, but Disney's "Haunted Mansion" is a perfectly acceptable family film.
LaKeith Stanfield is quite good as usual; the story is simple but has a little bit of pathos; unlike her role in Ahsoka, Rosario Dawson actually has a personality and emotes throughout as the single mother/owner of the mansion who needs assistance; all the supporting characters are good comic actors (Danny DeVito, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Jamie Lee Curtis) who liven up the film; and apart from some exposition dumps, it all moves along pretty quickly.
It's a low bar, I know, but I'm pretty excited to report that it's just trying to tell a nice little story with a ghost/afterlife theme.
