Disney Killing Boyhood Heroism

I started to notice that my son's interest in cartoon suddenly dropped and saw that he was spending more time playing games online. Initially I though this was because he was growing older, but the drop off was quite sudden and within a few months.

He used to watch Disney Junior a lot, so I took a look at their watchlist/schedule: http://tv.disney.ph/dj-tv-schedule#T2j3EBKpmZVfGGJD.97

It turns out, none of their shows had one strong male lead anymore. Even Winnie the Pooh's Christoper Robbins character is now gone and replaced by a girl.

Here's a summary of the schedule:

1. There are 1,140 minutes of shows from 5:00 am to 11:30 am.
2. Out of these 58% or 660 minutes are for shows where there is singular female lead such as Doc McStuffins or Sofia the First.
3. 42% are actually team based shows such as Mission Force One and PJ Masks, where the female character is the smartest one in the group.

Disney is actually doing something sneaky naming shows after the male lead, but the story is actually revolving around the female characters (Mickey and the Roadster Racers and Captain Jake).

Oh, and by the way in all the shows the main villain is always male.
