ROBOTICS TECHNOLOGY AND UNAVOIDABLE DISEASE CAUSING DRINKING WATER

in #discussion7 years ago

We shall not defeat any of the infectious diseases that plague the developing world until we have also won the battle for safe drinking water, sanitation, and basic health care. - Kofi Annan

HUMAN AWARENESS IS A VERY SLOW PROCESS

Throughout the history of man, we, the humans have learnt a lots of things and then made adjustments to our lives accordingly. Apparently, it seems as if it would have happened within no time to evolve and adopt the new practices in our lives, but it's not that way. The awareness process is very slow. Sometimes, for humans, it takes decades or even centuries to realize a mistake or potential danger and then they take the protective measures accordingly.

The fruitful outcomes that we, the humans got from the practices, errors, experiments helped us made our lives better. If a scientist was able to invent something, the world gave credit to him alone but truth is that scientist could not invent it if there had not been the ground work done before. This includes years and years of failed experiments. Though there are some exceptions - the inventions that came into existence accidentally. I still believe, these 'accidental' inventions could not have been possible if the collective human conscience had not developed up to that level necessary to make all this happen.

THE ADVANCEMENT IN THE WORLD IS UNEVEN

When we take a look at the development of the wold, we see it's uneven. What I mean from uneven is we see a lot of technological advancement in the world. The internet technology has really speed up things and today, we're doing research and creating clones and robots. In the medical science, we're already using the robotics technology to cure different diseases. This was not possible a few decades ago.

This is one side of the picture. The other side is very dark.

Though this source is saying it's 86% of the total population that has access to the safe drinking water. Truth is, the vast majority of the people have no excess to clean drinking water and this is increasing day by day causing diseases like Hepatitis C in particular. I live in Lahore that is one of the most advanced city of Pakistan. The situation here in the city is that we have to buy the safe drinking water. But not everybody has the buying power. So, what they drink is not safe. Now, you can understand what would be situation in the remote areas/small cities and towns. The villages has the worst situation. So, in a minute, we moved from robotics technology to this unavoidable disease causing drinking water. This is our uneven world.

SUM UP

Though we're lucky to think that we're living during amazing times where we have very advanced technology and we can do things effortless that otherwise used to take our ancestors hours, days, weeks or even months to do. Take the example, of sending a message to a far off place. Before the advent of telephone, humans have been using different methods to convey their messages. The recent example is that of writing a letter. It used to take days to reach to the destination. Today, we can send countless messages to any person anywhere in the world with a single click of the button. This is, no doubt, -revolutionary thing but just one side of the picture as well. The advanced technology has also created distances among humans and created the video gap of alienation. Today, we have all the diet plans, more recipes, more accurate health advice available free online but still we are less healthy than our ancestors.

So, here is the question of the day for our #discussion:

Is our life better than that of our ancestors?

@cleverbot God Bless us all. Depending on where you are in the world both are true. Some ancestor lives where better than others. The advance in health and stability allow for some to achieve while others suffer. Not at the hands of those that are prospering but at the hands of their governments, civil and social disconnect.

Yes. But...

Great post :)

Another issue is even in places that water is plentiful it is being poisoned by Fluoride. Tap water and most bottled water has fluoride added and people don't realize over time it can calcify the pineal gland. I think water is the number one source of life and needs to be pure and clean of everything to drink the best. I like your discussion Here is my #discussion post.
