Discussion - Improving the Steemit Experience - Layout

in #discussion9 years ago (edited)

@timcliff suggested that Steemit could host more discussion-like forums to encourage interaction and the generation of ideas to improve the Steemit experience.
Now, I'm not sure if others have experienced this, but I find it quite tiring on my eyes to read matter on Steemit. I think that the page could be divided up into columns so that our eye muscles didn't have to work so hard by travelling quite that distance. Think about the Facebook layout. It's relatively easy on the eyes. I say relatively because all web pages are taxing on the reader, because of the lights and the reflection off a white background. That Facebook layout isn't haphazard.
Perhaps there could be a few experiments undertaken on background colour - with voting on preferences. The best colour wins. What colours do users prefer as a background? This is not trivial. People with dyslexia, for instance, can sometimes have a preference for a blue background. I quite like pale blue myself. It is restful on the eyes.
Smaller font to fit more into a page. If the eye muscles move less to encompass more, it's got to cause less eye-strain and improve the experience.
Happy Steeming - I look forward to reading your comments and suggestions.

Good post, good discussion.
I use chrome and zoom to 110%, kick back and read, My eyes are about 2 feet from screen. Personally I think it is less eyestrain moving your eyes to read, than having to refocusing on the small print from word to word and line to line. As far as background color, I use brightness and contrast controls on my monitor to suite my own eyes. The background color I use is a dull white, lowered brightness and contrast really make it easier on the eyes. After 38 years on computers, this is what works for me.

Your Welcome Hon, Keep up the good work !

now following !

Thank you for your reply :-)

Another site I found that had suggestions on optimal page layout for "digestability" of content....
