I'm a Tax Accountant able to practice in Federal Tax Court. Back in the day, I used to get $500 an hour for tax research. The surprising thing no one believes is that the tax code is extremely easy to understand and research. I was so sorry when that research money dried up. That was one of the easiest jobs I ever had.
In all my years of dealing with the IRS for clients - no one was ever killed, nor any dogs. I don't work for scammers though. Just honest people who screwed up their taxes.

Dang! He needed my advice, I used to contact the IRS for scared people all day long. In my experience, if you tell the truth and communicate they will not kill you.

I'm watching people expose the charity fraud. She should have gone down for that years ago. That huge charity organization was not even filing half the time. The fraud and collusion is truly stunning.
People go down for taxes all the time. They get scared and don't communicate and then end up in contempt and yes, you can lose everything and go to jail. If you receive income and do not report it properly and then do not work with the irs to fix it - you are going down.
This is why all the crypto rich will be in the fema camps soon. Just a prediction, but you know most of them are not paying appropriate taxes on this money.

Yes, I absolutely agree. I moved to Thailand because I gave up on the American dream.
I am shocked by how much free-er it is here and in all the countries nearby that I have been to.
I think "pretend" is the key word in your question. My thing is weight loss and with 7 out of 10 Americans obese or overweight, you would think I'd be doing well. Instead I argue with people about how they aren't really that fat and it's not really a problem anyway.
But the final straw for me was the Trolley Cops of San Diego. When resources are used to constantly check an old lady like me to make sure I paid - this is a bad sign of things to come. (7 out of 10 Trolley Cops are fat, btw)
