Elon Musk has always wanted to go to the moon and to Mars. He is bypassing the moon it would appear and shooting straight to Mars. He is sending his ride there. Any doubts that he is not serious about going to Mars. I mean he will already have the first cool car waiting for him when he gets there.
Now for everyone bitching, complaining, and moaning about subsidies for Elon Musk, I remind you that President Bill Clinton signed an executive order about Mid-Night curfews in high crime cities. Then less than one week later via executive order, gave a lot of money to midnight basketball leagues in these curfewed cities. At least Elon Musk is doing something with the subsidies.
Great video. Elon Musk is giving the middle finger to the nay-sayers. The best part is that the rocket stages returning to the earth to be re-utilized is true. Musk is one of my heroes. Going into space with private money. and profiting from it. That's the spirit.
Not all "private" money. Musk has benefited from billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies, not directly on the space program but indirectly:
