Socialism Debunked in Two SentencessteemCreated with Sketch.

in #discussion6 years ago

Mike Maloney from GoldsilverMoney has posted a recent video explaining why Socialism has never worked (and never will).

It is a really short video but gets to the point quickly.

I'm willing give to the Church, widows, the poor, charities and the disabled but I am not forced to do so. I do it gladly and with a smile.

Socialism unlike giving, is like an uninvited houseguest who sits on your couch, eats your food and refuses to leave.

And we all know who the biggest proponent of socialism is: the government. We are forced to give a percentage of our income under the threat of fines and/or imprisonment.

In my opinion, taxation is theft.

Great video with some very valid points. I don't think taxation is theft. We need to collectively pool for certain things like defense, major infrastructure, primary schools and basic healthcare (to prevent the spread of disease) but taxation to cover anything beyond the basics and for an expanding bureaucracy is definitely theft. Certain things like water delivery systems should also be socialized but at a local level.

Taxation is theft. Collective pooling for things we believe to be necessary can be done voluntarily, without force.

True but how do you police it? I'd prefer to go back to a time where there was just VAT , tariffs, levies and fees. Income tax is definitely theft and the government could run basic services off of user fees. Government should not be competition for charities

I agree with the collectively pooling of resources of for the items like you describe as long as it is voluntary. Once you have interference and coercison with an individual or a individual's property is where I draw the line. Appreciate your thoughts and thanks for dropping by.

Government should not tax income and work, they could tax non productive assets and consumption, especially excessive consumption and imports. Things like roads should just be user fees based

Taxation is theft because it is the same as being robbed at gunpoint, except for the government won't shoot you, they will imprison you and destroy your life.

That's my opinion too.
all taxation is theft.

it's actually a bit more complicated that you imply.
everything is complicated isn't it.

the gist is that socialism works...within the family unit..
it even works within the tribe.
beyond that...not so much.

I don't think that it's complicated at all. I'm of the opinion that family structure and even the tribe is a product not of socialist policy but of voluntary association, made necessary by biological and social realities. I appreciate your thoughts though.

well I guess it's not complicated when you ignore all the facts.
that works pretty well for some people. I try not too because that way lies madness.
I fail to see how being born into a family is a voluntary association. If you know how that works then I want a do over so I can be born rich.

In most cases, a family you can walk away from. The government not so much.

in most cases one must be above a certain age to walk away from their family....legally.
in other cases 'abandonment' is a thing.

Note: I'm NOT disagreeing with you to any significant degree.
I tend to over think stuff.

No worries. This is a discussion and all opinions so long as they are well-represented and respectful are welcome. It's all good. 👍
