The gift of discernment: This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood

Discernment is a skill that we exercise every day, we all choose in one way or another, in an edifying sense (spiritual mindset) or in a destructive sense (flesh mindset), no one is beyond good and evil. Our way of discerning defines us as persons: "Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires" Romans 8:5.
But the apostle John in his first epistle tells us about exercising the discernment in a special way, as a spiritual perfection, as a gift of the Holy Spirit. The spiritual realities sometimes manifest as dreams, intuitions, visions, and prophecies; how to recognize what comes from God and what not, the ability to distinguish between spirits is fundamental if we want to have the correct spiritual guide. Ahab, the King of Israel, lost his life because he was unable to distinguish between the correct prophecy and the false prophecy in 1 Kings 22:-40.
Faith, hope, and justification are very special spiritual gifts that we receive at the sacrament of baptism, to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven ("Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect" Matthew 5:48) and so receive Christ in the heart.
Our Lord Jesus came to give us true life and true happiness; that is why when we recognize Jesus as the "son of man" and personal savior, it is when grace enables us in that special knowledge to distinguish what comes from above and what does not: "We are from God, and whoever knows God listen to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood" 1 John 4:6.
The gospel tells us that we should not live excessively anxious or worried, but rather live alerts and attentive to the signs of the times, because the Bible tells us: "Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour" 1 Peter 5:8.
