7 Years today... Ronnie James Dio

In May 16, 2010 we lost the American Heavy Metal and Hard Rock singer, songwriter and musician--
Ronnie James Dio to stomach cancer.

Ronnie is known primarily for his collaboration in Black Sabbath during 1980-82, after former vocalist Ozzy Osbourne was fired in April of '79 after various attempts were made to get Ozzy back on the team.

Later leaving Black Sabbath to form his own band "Dio" in 1982, and later a new project called Heaven and Hell.

Dio has also been credited with popularizing the notorious gesture oft referred to as the "Metal Horns" /,,/, or "Sign of the Horns" which originates from a Southern Italian superstition called "malocchio" (meaning Evil Eye), and is used to protect against the "Evil Eye". Dio learnt this from his grandmother who was born in the region of Abruzzo.
