Hello friend Steemian, I want to share the story, yesterday I participated in a contest made by #dinodiploma through @prosperousrex account Alhamdulillah I won the contest with the theme of the space, although the last champion, but pretty I can get 2 Free Steem from, @etemi.

And I am very excited and make me more excited to write, and this time I try my luck to follow the contest again, coincidentally #dinodiploma is holding another contest with different theme that is with the theme of wildlife (animal in nature) Dino Diploma: Contest Winners and rules for Submission! This Weeks Theme is Wildlife (Animals in Nature)

So this time I will discuss some of the rare wildlife that are still alive in the Borneo jungle of Borneo Island, Indonesia.

The Borneo forest is a beautiful place like a paradise for various types of flora and fauna typical of Indonesia. Many rare plants and animals, even the only wildlife in the world, live and thrive in this often called Borneo region.

Because of the excessive practice of illegal logging and excessive natural exploration, many of these plants and wildlife are threatened with extinction. In fact there are some of them that have been declared extinct. So what rare animals can still be found on the island of Borneo? here are some wildlife that we can still find in Kalimantan:

Pygmy Elephant (Elephas maximus borneensis), also known as the Bornean Dwarf Elephant is one of the elephant species of asia that lives on the island of Borneo.

This elephant can be found in the eastern part of Sabah and in the north of Borneo island. This dwarf elephant can be aged for 70 years and live in groups. The six-month-old Pygmy Elephant has a height of 1.5 meters, while a five-year-old adult elephant can reach a height of 2.4 meters and weigh less than 2 tons.

  • Red Cats

The red cat (or with the Latin name Pardofelis badia) has several names such as cat borneo, red cat kalimantan and kalimantan cats. This cat is a wild animal endemic from Borneo is very rare compared to other forest cats.

In 2002, IUCN classified this cat as endangered, due to a 20% lower population decline by 2020 due to habitat loss. In 2007, estimate the number of red cat population is about 2,500 tails.

Besides can be found on the island of Borneo, this animal can also be found on the island of Sumatra, Bangka Belitung and the Natuna Islands. Ghost Animals (Tarsius Bancanus) is a kind of carnivore who likes to eat other animals such as small crabs, spiders, lizards or other small insects.

This animal has a body of about 340-400 mm and a slender tail with a length of between 165-200 mm and has no hairs except at the edges. Her hair is smooth as wool, and it gets thinner in the throat and abdomen.

Barboula or often we are familiar with the name Frog Head Pipih (Barbourula kalimantanensis) is a type of frog Bombinatoridae which is also the only type of frog in the world that has no lungs. Although animals that do not have lungs can also be found in some amphibians such as Salamanders and caecilians. The frogs often hide behind the rocks of the river. So far, flat head frogs are scattered around Nanga Pinoh, West Kalimantan.

Due to the small population and the magnitude of the threat of habitat destruction it faces, the frog is included by the IUCN into an endangered status. First described in 1978 by experts herpetofauna from ITB, namely Djoko T Iskandar.

A blood-drinking squirrel (with the Latin name Rheithrosciurus macrotis) is one of the rarest animals in Borneo rarely seen. Reportedly this animal can kill a deer Muntjak (Kijang).

This squirrel is different from the squirrel in general, especially from long ear hair and large tail. Even many scientists who mentioned that blood drinking squirrel is one of the mammals that have a feather tail. The tail of this animal is indeed 30% larger than its body, while the length reaches 36 centimenter.
