There are various software for digital painting, adobe photoshop, corel paint etc. The digital workspace for painting is similar to the painter's canvas and tool, some people are usually scared at the first trial as a result of fear of applying the colours, fear of blending the colour, and many more. These fears in turn limits our colour usage, our painting becomes almost monochromatic.

The secret is to start with your colour wheel; the colour wheel is made up of twelve colours, the colours facing each other are complimentary colours, while the colour side by side to each other are analogous. When painting try using complimentary colours to create effect of light and shade on your painting e. g. When you use purple for shade (dark) , use yellow for tint(light). Play with colours like these and you are sure to achieve that colourful painting you want.
