Do you know what happened to a company called BitSoko? They won a $100,000 Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation grant. They are/were a company based in Nairobi that was making bitcoin wallets. After BitSoko received the grant they couldn't withdraw any of the money because crazy restrictions in the contract. They couldn't buy computers because computers had to be leased but there was no one in Kenya who would lease computers. Bill Gates can talk about digital currency but its more of just a vapid-talk than anything substantial--the same way he talks about saving people from diseases by giving them his vaccines.
