[steemiq.me] Whose level do you write at?

in #development8 years ago (edited)

Introduction

Today I am introducing a new feature to SteemIQ called "Whose level do you write at?" This new module takes your school grade (the average Flesch Kincaid level of all of your blog posts) and matches it against known average Flesch Kincaid grade levels of authors, and famous people. As you can see below the user @xtester has a 10.9 school grade which roughly puts his writing on par with that of Jim Collins, Daniel Kahneman, and Nassim Taleb.

@xtester writes "I intend to heavily optimize my posts for quality, not quantity"

Clarification Regarding SteemIQ

SteemIQ is not a direct calculation of an individual's intelligence, but rather a calculation of intelligence based on writing. The biggest factors that contribute to increasing one's SteemIQ are the number of difficult words (multiple syllable words) that are in a post, as well as the Flesch Kincaid grade level of the post. Also note that if the post is in a different language other than English it will currently not count towards your school grade or SteemIQ.

What is Flesch Kincaid Grade Level?

Flesch Kincaid grade level is a test of readability. If you score 5.0 as your average Flesch Kincaid grade level this means that your writing is readable to a 5th grade student. Users like @stellabelle have a relatively high SteemIQ and 6 or 7th grade Flesch Kincaid level because their writing contains a number of multiple syllable words but is also readable to the vast majority of people. If you want to learn more in regards to Flesch Kincaid level please check out the Wikipedia page.

What is the goal of SteemIQ?

The goal of SteemIQ is to make an accurate judgement of a user's writing quality, and to promote quality content on the Steem blockchain. There are a lot of future expansions planned to the tool to aid in helping users enhance their quality.

How can I help contribute to SteemIQ?

If you would like to see a specific feature in SteemIQ, or have noticed a bug feel free to PM me on https://steemit.chat or post in the comments below. Thank You!

Being a non-English native speaker, this tool is quite useful to me, to check how my style of writing and new words use is going, so thank you again! Will not stop promoting it and following!

@ned @dan Come on guys this is the kind of content that needs your support! also it made me laugh by comparing my "writing style" to Tim Ferriss & Tolstoy! what's not to love.

I just tried it out and it's really cool! I really appreciate all the work that goes into a project like this. I hope members realise that you are adding value to all of us and that they upvote you! You deserve to be paid for this initiative. UPVOTED and Followed!

I've seen comments about this on my blogs, but they have been blurred out?

That's the @isaac.asimov bot, this is a similar tool that was inspired by that bot (personally I think this is more convenient) :)

Ok, thank you :-)

Very cool service.
