The Tortoise Fell Down the Rabbit Hole and wound up in Never Never Land
or - the story of a student of life
So , I have been studying as much about this tech shit as I can as fast as I can; or I should say as fast as being one step away from homelessness will allow.
My first go at running a rippled node/cluster wasn't a total success - but it wasn't a total failure either. For some strange reason it seems that both the Ubuntu and the CentOs node crashes somewhere between the 24 to 36 hour mark. Then I have to do a service restart.
I have these running on a decent piece of harware. I need to get around to changing the logging settings and really studying that a little better - maybe setting up a stats.d server would help me troubleshoot.
All these new platforms are using nodejs for UI access, so I am also learning that as well. I haev done a bunch of PHP / Ajax / multi-curl programming so switching to nodejs shouldn't be too much of a hurdle - at least I am familiar with async stuff from jquery/ajax. I know it's not the same - but the groundwork is there.
One of my nodejs learner projects is setting up a daily post bot for steemit - I got the nodejs installed and got the first steemit getAccounts function to work. Woot - one more 'hello world' conquered. I figured I would start with something simple that doesn't really need a GUI - learning how to work with data is the easy part - and templates aren't really that hard either - just a little more work on folders for views/templates.
Part of that project is going to need a database - I currently have the data in mysql tables - I'm thinking about trying out the new mysql nosql json table type - or I might switch to mongodb (had to do a clean install and a hotfix for srv08r2). I will experiment with those 2 things tommorow.
Well, that's about as far as I got for today - we'll see what tommorow brings.
The easiest way to help the broke carpenter is an upvote and maybe a resteem.
The next best way is to sign up for the fucking fastest dex on the planet - bitshares - https://wallet.bitshares.org/?r=rxhector2k5
and there is always the good ol' just send it to a wallet

projects you may end up funding
better server
better network equipment (better switch/router)
better drives (need storage space on servers - thinking about a boinc node)
future servers/vms
need to run a bitshares node
need to run a steemit node
investigate eos
colocation = $650/mo
server = ????; (cluster @$5k/ea)
bills = $2k/mo
unemployment ain't gonna fix that
i got a few website/gamification ideas - but need to get network and nodes running better before jumping back to development environment
