Foreshortening just for fun on an island…

Dear Steemians,
I would like to take you on a trip to my favorite island and as I just rediscovered a passion of mine, I want to share with you drawn pictures I made during an holiday in 2014.
When you go to Borkum, you have to take the ferry. First you have Germany on the right and the Netherlands on the left for some time before you reach the open shore.

ich möchte euch mitnehmen auf eine Reise zu meiner Lieblingsinsel und da ich gerade eine Leidenschaft von mir wiederentdeckt habe, möchte ich euch meine gezeichneten Bilder aus meinem Urlaub in 2014 zeigen.
Wenn man nach Borkum fährt, muss man die Fähre nehmen. Zu Anfang hast Du Deutschland auf der rechten Seite und die Niederlande auf der linken bevor man das offene Wasser erreicht.

Und langsam, ganz langsam wirst Du die Insel in der Ferne sehen…

You can find the typical things you might expect: lots of sand and shells…
Man findet hier natürlich die typischen Sachen: Sehr viel Sand und viele Muscheln…

But Borkum is unique, you will see!
Aber Borkum ist einzigartig, Du wirst sehen!
still modern times
After the sunbathing on the beach, you might like to enjoy some music in the evening. Then go to the Bürgermeister-Kieviet-Promenade. Every day in the summer musicians will play in the open bungalow while you enjoy the sun setting behind it.
Nach dem Sonnenbaden, könntest Du vielleicht etwas Musik genießen wollen. Dann auf zur Bürgermeister-Kieviet-Promenade. Im Sommer spielen dort jeden Abend Musiker*innen, während Du dahinter die Sonne untergehen siehst.

How about some more culture? This is the old lighthouse, today just a monument and a place to marry.
Wie wäre es mit noch mehr Kultur? Das hier ist der Alte Leuchtturm, heute nur noch eine Sehenswürdigkeit und ein Ort zum Heiraten.

But what I really love about Borkum is it’s wideness (but not too wide), it’s stillness and the calm, that I can find inside me.
Aber was ich wirklich an Borkum liebe, ist seine Weite (aber nicht zu weit), seine Stille und die Ruhe, die ich dort in mir finden kann.

But it’s like everywhere, reality and it’s harshness can always find you.
Aber es ist wie überall, die Realität und ihre Härte kann Dich überall finden.
2014 ist das offene Meer eine Illusion.

I hope, you liked my little trip. Maybe you will want to visit the island and see for yourself. If so, please give my little island my best regards, while I will do a course in drawing for the next time…
Ich hoffe, Dir hat meine kleine Reise gefallen. Vielleicht möchtest Du selber mal auf die Insel und sie selber entdecken. Wenn ja, grüß meine kleine Insel von mir, während ich erstmal noch einen Zeichenkurs mache, fürs nächste Mal.
