Visiting the Niederwald Monument

Last week we visted the so called Niederwalddenkmal in the Rhine-Valley near Rüdesheim. It was a cold an rainy day and while the view was NOT as u would expect it in the summertime, we got the chance to explore the monument all for ourselves. No tourist masses, no school classes, no asian bus tours ;-) Every german probably visits this place with their grandparents, parents or in highschool, at least once in a lifetime. For me this was the third time after many years and this time it was really different experience. The other picture shows the rhine valley, looking west.
