Today we are talking about why sugar is a no go

This is the second article in my detox series and today we are going to talk about sugar.

The sweet stuff we all love to crave. I have a huge sweet tooth myself and love to dig into desserts and sweet treats, but I try to stay away from refined sugar and go for more natural sweeteners like agave syrup, dates, and even bananas.

Sugar that is not turned to energy converts to fat

So, let cut to the case. Why stay away from sugar? Sugar that is not used up as energy turns into fat and fat binds toxins, and during a detox we want to get rid of as much toxins and waste as possible.

Sugar is also food for cancer cells, that’s why it’s so important to reduce your sugar intake as much as possible so your body can be more efficient in killing them.

Sugar gives you uneven blood sugar. Since it’s a quick calorie it also boosts up your blood sugar. But the dip comes just as quickly. Making you moody and cranky craving more sweets.

A detox is not only meant to clean out toxins but also to reset your body, loose sugar cravings and other cravings that is no good to you. And cutting out sugar is not really a big deal just take it one step at a time.

Fruit is natures candy and does not need any extra sweetener

When you get a sweet craving try to go for something naturally sweet instead:

  • Bananas
  • Dates
  • Berries
  • Apples
  • Raisins

You can also pay my friend @vegan.niinja a visit. She makes the most delicious treats with only natural sweeteners. Her saffron cheesecake is to die for. But don’t eat too much. You are still on a detox, remember 😉

I hope you liked this post. I’m looking forward to connecting with each one of you.

Hi, I'm not a vegan and came here for a different reason. Still, as I am here, a question: I see you use tofu, potatoes and so on. Since most of what is available nowadays is GMO, how do you deal with that problem - or don't you consider it a problem.

Reason for my visit: I saw that you upvoted me. I felt a small suggestion may be in order, since even those who are not looking to earn a living, enjoy the signs of success - high rep.

If you are going to upvote someone, leave a comment, just don't use the same message all the time. It is better that you do not upvote your own comment, as it then looks like you only made a comment to vote for yourelf. However, certain posters do like to say thank you for a vote and comment with an upvote in return, while others will grab the opportunity to check out your blog page - and that too can earn you upvotes.

Also, upvoting is nice, but if you do it too often each day, it becomes worth almost zero.

Hi there, happy that you notified me about the comment. I have had problems with my comments not being sent. Not sure if it's something to do with the page bugging. I need to keep a better track of what comments being sent or not :D.
It's really important for me to always comment and show appriciation for the posts I like and I never leave the same comment on any post.
There is a site where you can keep track of your steempower so I'm always checking that.

Now as for the soy and potatoes. 70-80% of the soy that is produced is fed to lifestock and the only soy I eat is produced in Europe and non-GMO.
And the only potatoes I eat is produced here in Sweden.

That makes you one really lucky person. I believe the best non-GMO soya beans are grown in Serbia. However, a lot of the people who will read your posts do come from countries where soya is 99% GMO, so if you are feeling kindly towards them, just add a small notice, warning them.

That is a great hint. We should be very careful with GMO products and with soya we always have to check if it is organic or not and where it is from. A great amount of soya can also influence our hormones, so eating soya every now and than can be alright, but on a daily basis soya is not the best source for valuable nutrients.
Thanks for taking the time to comment and give some tips @arthur.grafo !

That is a great hint as Niina said. I really appriciate you taking your time :)

Dates and bananas are my favorite "sugar" in cakes and cookies 👍 Sometimes I use xylitol too.

I'm not a huge fan of xylitol :D. Never quite learned how to handle it ;D.

I never use xylitol, but I use maple syrup sometimes, or coconut nectar! And lately even apple syrup! And I love to bake with dates and bananas!;)

Wow Nicole thank you for this great article and for mention me! I could send you one piece of the cake I made some days ago with only natural sweetener hihi! Just kidding! Great that you are on a detox!😙😉Im am so happy I dont eat refined sugar anymore.👌

You are so right. There is so many recipes out there that really does the trick and only concist of natural sweeteners :)

Totally agree :)
