That is a very nuanced discussion, since there is so much variance in functionality. In many ways ethereum has already eclipsed bitcoin.

Absolutely. In fact it will easily supplant it. Not in value maybe (it will be a lot) but certainly in functionality. I started writing contracts after 1 day of research (senior dev java enterprise)
I see that's great...Do you have any idea of what could surpass Bitcoin in terms of value...
Or even reach the same sort of levels as bitcoin.
As a direct competitor? Probably nothing. As a pure store of value. Bitcoin will take it's position as the world reserve currency within 5 years, due to it's trustless design and transparent address viewing make a perfect system for bank transfer.
We'll settle on something else I imagine eventually,... Though things can change! Someone has a good idea I've never thought of.. That's happening a lot recently! So the future is wide open. Short term, BTC and ETH will win the day for the forseeable future.
