  1. “SEE, I HAVE SET BEFORE YOU TODAY LIFE AND GOOD, DEATH AND EVIL,
  2. in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess.
  3. But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them,
  4. I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess.
  5. I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, THAT I HAVE SET BEFORE YOU LIFE AND DEATH, BLESSING AND CURSING; THEREFORE CHOOSE LIFE, THAT BOTH YOU AND YOUR DESCENDANTS MAY LIVE;
  6. that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”
    Deuteronomy 30:15-20 (NKJV)

• God even respects our choices!

  • One of the reasons why many failed in life is because of poor CHOICES: poor choices of career, poor choices in marriage, in business, and every other Area of life.
  • God, in the above Bible passage, said He has set before the Israelites, life and death, blessing and cursing, they would therefore do well to choose life (Deuteronomy 30:19).
GOD was not forcing them to do what He said but imploring them to choose wisely, choose the right thing, that is, they should consider to choose life.
THEY, however, have the right to choose otherwise, choose contrary to what God said to choose.
  • God gave power to desires and make choices.
  • It is part of mankind's nature to will or desire for things, whatever they want.

• To some extent whatever happens in a person's life has to do with the desires of the person (John 15:7; James 1:14,15).

  • You get what you desire.
IF you desired a good thing that is in line with the Word of God and plans of God for your Life, it will surely be done for you (John 15:7).
THAT shows us that what happens to someone is determined mainly by the desires of the person.
EVEN when someone, a believer, committed a Sin, It was caused by the desires of the person: "14 BUT EACH ONE IS TEMPTED WHEN HE IS DRAWN AWAY BY HIS OWN DESIRES AND ENTICED. 15 Then, WHEN DESIRE HAS CONCEIVED, IT GIVES BIRTH TO SIN; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death" (James 1:14,15).
  • By and large whatever happens in someone's life has to do with the desires and choices of that individual.

• Another thing is that you may desire, will or wish that someone has a thing, If you want to help the person.

  • The truth is, you cannot push your desire on someone else, If the person does not want it.
  • If you want God to do something for someone, maybe any of your loved ones, God may not be able to do it if the person does not desire it, especially if the person is a mature person, God would need the consent of the person before He could do anything for him or her.
  • You can help someone by taking the person through the Word of God, the Bible; get the person enlightened with the Word in order to see the need for the thing you may have desired for him or her (Ephesians 1:18).
  • If what you desired for someone is at variance with what the person desired for themselves, your desires in prayer for such may not come to pass, except you enlightened the person to agree with what you have desired before God could do anything.
  • The exceptional case is if the person is a baby Christian, and such cannot see or understand what you are saying, God may grant what you are asking for the person that such may understand the thing you have been saying.
THIS is also applicable to your children when they are still small, or any member of your immediate family.
  • You can ask for a thing for your children and God will grant it on the platform of your faith. HOWEVER, when your children get older, God may want to consider their desires, choices, and faith before a thing can be done for THEM.
  • God would want them to build their relationship and fellowship with Him because God relates with us individually, not collectively: not family by family, or church by church, but individually.

• You cannot push your desires and wills off on someone else, It is not a matter of whether one's faith or prayer is working or not.

  • You cannot make someone else desires what you have desired.
IF you could get the person to agree with you through the enlightening of the Word of God, great thing would happen.
  • God is sovereign, He has the power to make things happen, however, He will not do a thing against your wills or desires.
  • If God wanted to do a thing in your Life, He usually will first of all give you a will or birth a desire in your heart for the particular thing He wanted to do.
  • God would not force anything on anyone, He can only give you the desires for whatever He wanted to do.
HE would make you will and do whatever He wanted: "FOR IT IS GOD WHO WORKS IN YOU BOTH TO WILL AND TO DO FOR HIS GOOD PLEASURE" (Philippians 2:13).

• You will not fail in Jesus' name.
Peace!
