Who is design of The Taj Mahal ?
Ustad Ahmad , an architect in the court of Shah Jahan from Lahore, is most often credited as the chief architect (or plan drawer) of the Taj Mahal, based on a seventeenth century manuscript which claims that Ustad Ahmad was the architect of both the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort at Delhi.
I have always doubted that a structure so beautiful was the creation of a single mind. I like to think this was a collaborative effort, although this was very likely a combination of ideas from Shah Jahan, Ustad Ahmad, and the slew of other people involved (from the people who came up with the mosaics and sculptures to the masons who created that wonderful facade.
This is a wonder I hope to visit someday, as the only images I have seen have been on PBS documentaries.
